Weekend in Busan

Last weekend David , Julie, Amanda, Brandon and myself decided to spend the weekend in Busan. Amanda and Brandon had not been to Busan yet and it was Julie’s final weekend in Korea. We thought it would be the perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. We did a lot of shopping, eating and drinking. It was a really funny weekend!

We started our journey on Saturday morning. We took the bus from Changnyeong, it takes around one hour and 20 minutes. When we arrived at Busan bus station we took the subway to Nampodong. Nampodong is 16 stops with one change from the bus station. We headed to Nampodong and found a ‘Love Motel’. Then we headed straight to Jalgachi Fish Market and seen some interesting stuff.

We went up to Jalgachi viewing deck to see the lovely sea view. Then we went shopping around Nampodong. We also spent some time in Lotte Department store. Here we watched a musical fountain and went to the roof top and enjoyed more of the spectacular Busan view!

After this we went to a Thai restaurant and had a delicious meal with some nice wine. Next we had a few more drinks. Well a few drinks turned into a lot of drinks! We went to a bar called ‘Barket.’ This is a bar that which is cross between a bar and a market/store. It sold a variety of alcohol from around the world. You shopped around the store/bar and collected your drinks from the fridges.  Then you placed them in a basket and paid for them at the counter and then you sat down in your booth. The drinks seemed to keep flowing and before we knew it, it was the early hours of the morning. After a long and eventful walk back to our ‘Love Motel’ we went to bed.

For breakfast we went to Paris Baguette and then done some more shopping and sightseeing.  We went to Busan Tower. David and I felt a little delicate so we watched every body’s bags and relaxed whilst they went up the tower.

In the early afternoon we made our way back to the bus station. We ate some more delicious ‘city’ food and then popped onto the bus back to Changnyeong. The bus was extremely busy so some of us had to stand up but it was better than waiting for the next bus. When we arrived back in Changnyeong it was raining and miserable so we jumped straight into our car and headed back to our little village in the middle of paddy fields, Gyeseong.

Overall, it was a great weekend. Next time we return to Busan I would like to go to the beach and do some more shopping in a different district.
